Violent Windstorm Damages Trees Near Oliver

7/24/2012

The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations is warning the public to steer clear of the west side of Okanagan River from the Highway 97 McAlpine Bridge to Lion's Park in Oliver.

As a result of violent winds during the storm last Friday numerous trees have fallen while many more branches and limbs are still at risk of falling.

The notice is effective immediately as the Ministry has closed off the area and are currently cleaning and assessing the damage.

Public notices of the closure will be posted at the affected parts of the path.

No word yet as to when the area will be re-opened to the public.
