Weekend Wildfires Keep Firefighters Busy

9/24/2012

Two wildfires kept firefighters busy over the weekend.

On Sunday morning a blaze broke out west of Okanagan Falls near the White Lake Observatory.

The 30 hectare wildfire didn't threaten any buildings as it was contained by air and ground crews.

Near Summerland yesterday a one hectare blaze came within three metres of a house before fire crews managed to get it under control.

The fire danger rating throughout the Okanagan remains high.

Wildfire officials are investigating the cause of both blazes.

There have been no reports of lightning strikes in area which means the fires are likely human caused.
