Fri. Jan.29th - WOW to WAW

...WOW to WAW...means WOW...to What A Week! Here is a run-down:
- Sunday, I was involved with the Community Celebration in Summerland to get everyone ready for the Olympic Torch Relay that rolled through Summerland on Monday. The Celebration featured great Olympic draw prizes, and video features of Summerland's 2 Olympians Kristi Richards and Justin Kripps. The big surprise came at the end of the near 2 hour event when Kristi surprised everyone and came out on stage. It was quite a moment to see.
- Monday was the actual Torch Relay. I was fortunate enough to have carried it way back in 1988 for the Calgary Games, so, I was very excited to see it this time. I must admit that the hooplah this year as opposed to '88 was incredible. What a parade of vehicles, as I watched it pass by on Main St. near the Penticton Library. Then I made my way over to the SOEC for the big celebration there. The sun was shining...and the crowds were crazy! Afterwards, Randy Farmer and I headed inside the SOEC for some of the enterainment, and popcorn...of course! What a couple of great days...and pretty easy to get you into the Olympic Spirit!
- Wednesday was the Annual Dreamlift Day for Wendy's, and it was another huge success. In each and every year of the 16 for Dreamlift Day...the numbers have increased...and this time around, the one day totals were just under $100,000! As always, everyone was patient and in a great mood, as the lineups went out the door...and the drive thru line out onto the road. I spent the lunch hour outside serving up mints...and it was a busy job with all of the hungry and giving people that popped by!
- This weekend will be a busy one too as the Vees host Quesnel on Saturday night, and I am looking forward to some hockey action. It will be a jam-packed day for hockey with Hockey Day in Canada back. Three games (all Canadian teams in action) on the tube, including the Canucks and Leafs at 4...followed by my trip to the SOEC to watch the Vees!
- The weekend will end with the Grammy Awards Sunday night. This is probably the best award ceremony, just due to the fact that there are usually some incredible performances that take place. That should conclude a very busy week, and weekend!
...Come on back Monday morning for the Breakfast Club...and a big concert announcement at 7:15...and the chance to maybe win tickets and Beat the Box Office? You will have to listen to find out. Have a great weekend...and I will talk to you on Monday just after Joanne's news at 6!
