As community groups wait to see if they qualify for provincial gaming grants, the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan says the demand for financial help will increase.

Executive Director Aaron McRan says in the last year alone applications went up 10 percent, request for dollars went up 30 percent.

McRan says the foundation which gets no help from provincial money, helps support organizations from Summerland down to Osoyoos.

Victoria says there will be no aid for adult sports, arts and culture.
