Housing starts in the city of Penticton were up in Februrary.

The Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation reports single-detached housing starts went from 1 in 2009 to 3 in 2010.  When it comes to multiples, there were no housing starts both this year and the previous year.

Market Analyst Paul Fabri says he expects the positive trend to continue.

Fabri adds"lower lot prices and construction costs have allowed builders to compete more effectively with existing homes."
